Edinburgh Tattoo
Would love some ideas to enjoy a trip to 2007 Tattoo in Edinburgh, first time traveller with sister & brother.
Make sure to have time to go to other events in the city. The Tattoo is during the Fringe festival and there are all sorts of street performers, comedians and musical acts up and down the Royal mile as well as playing at the local clubs at night.
There is a tour of Old Edinburgh which is underneath the city. It’s really creepy and really cool. Also visit Holyrood house at the other end of the Royal Mile from Edinburgh Castle, it’s where the Queen stays when she comes ot Scotland. Also if you are able take the hike up to Arthur’s seat for a really cool view of the city.
If you rent a car you may want to make a trip northwest to the Falkirk Wheel (http://www.thefalkirkwheel.co.uk/index.asp) and Stirling, home of the Wallace Monument (http://www.nationalwallacemonument.com/index.htm) and Stirling Castle (http://www.historic-scotland.gov.uk/index/properties/specialprojects/stirlingcastleproject.htm). Stirling is about 37 miles away from Edinburgh and makes a nice day trip.
Or take a trip to Rosslyn Chapel (http://www.rosslynchapel.org.uk/) that is mentioned in the DaVinci Code, it’s about 10 miles or so south of Edinburgh.
And definently get tickets to Tattoo now.
